Sega brought a new character onto its home console in the form of a dolphin. At first it looks like a kids game but it hides some seriously frustrating challenges. For some its a cakewalk but for most it will take awhile to complete the game. The success of Ecco the Dolphin led to its inevitable sequel “The Tides of Time.” A third installment would soon see the light on the Dreamcast entitled “Ecco: Defender Of The Future” which IMO was and still is a wonderful game.

i remember this game, my brother got to the end one time and everyone knows how hard this game was and he died and it was like 1AM he did eventually complete it but that night im surprised the mega drive didnt get thrown out the window!

Yeah, the third one …
Yeah, the third one was on the Dreamcast about ten years ago. And it’s been on the Playstation 2 for quite a while. That one has nothing to do with the original storyline, though. They don’t have the Vortex, or even the original Ecco. It’s a different one 500 years in the future. I’ve heard it’s a good game though. It’s better than the new developers trying to remake the original. I’m sorta happy they did that, actually. The same thing was done with Spyro’s storyline as well.

I never liked this …
I never liked this game cause it was OVERLY HARD. I think only 2% of the people who played this game actually completed it with no cheats. I doubt even the developers beat it.

It was actually on the central news today that retro gaming is becoming more poular now than it was then. Our generation grew up and wanted the best memories back i guess. I still have my console and this game and I’d much rather play it than any game ive seen on the latest consoles.

i am so glad i found this game in a store months ago! one of my fav games of all time! sega genesis had such a good game line, why did they stop? i know the playstation came along, and now the ps3 is out, but they still make games for the ps2, but why not sega genesis?
