When cleaning a burbot went wrong

Posted on Nov 16, 2008 under burbot fish | No Comment

My mom caught this burbot and thought it was dead after leaving it for more than 4 hours in the car in a plastic bag. But it wasn’t really… She didn’t meant to be cruel to the fish but we didn’t expect for what happened

Slimy Burbot

Posted on Oct 03, 2008 under burbot fish | No Comment

Caught a slimy burbot in the athabasca river in fort mcmurray, they’re ugly looking things.

But surprisingly, I hear they’re one of the best tasting fish you can eat!

Although I don’t think I’ll be cooking one up any time soon.
These little bastards can be a pain in the because when they bite, they swallow the entire hook and its impossible to get the hook out without prying and pulling.

READ TRANSLATION OVERHERE !!!!

a interview with lauri ylönen about his a perfect menu for a dinner.
and i have to say, i wanne go to dinner, wow he may always cook for me hihi. anyway this menu will be available at the tavastia klubi on 4 september,, named: Lauri Ylönen.

translation:

Lauri of The Rasmus bought a motorboat

This is “Hakis” hall, Hakaniemi hall. I wanted to come here to shop my foodstuff because I come here something like a couple of times in a month. You should book enought time, you don’t make it in just one hour, usually. There are lots of people in lines. And while shopping you discuss about different cheeses and different origins of cucumber and when that fish has been taken away from that sea.

It’s a little different compared to a normal visit in a super market, it’s really nice because you kind of get to know these people who run their shops here, the atmosphere is very friendly.

I don’t know the names, but there’s an old man down there who has the smallest shop. I kind of want to give him symphaty. He is very friendly and greets me from long distance when I come there. I’m like “what should I do for meal today” and he’s like “Well here we have some fresh burbot, guys brought it this morning!” And then he skins it for me and tells how to do that soup.. Amazing spirit of happening.

I use organic products as much as possible, even like from these normal shops, big markets, you can now find those quite well from vegetable section. And some meat too.
But in this hall we have own kiosks for organic products. I like to prefer organic stuff but I’m not all about it, I use other produccts too. But if I can choose, I take that organic one.

Fish food and fishing has been an important thing in my childhood and it’s all showing up again.. well, we used to go out to these same waters with my grandpa. I have really amazing memories from there. In the midnight when the closed season of zander ends, 20 boats leave the port. Then you troll till 6 am and return to grandma with a big draught and she makes the best soup ever! Now I’m waking that kind of thing alive again because I bought a boat this summer. All the guys of the band have already told they’re coming fishing with me. Feels good.

Rice is maybe the invincible food. I get this desire, “I have to get some!” I don’t know, it’s just like… well steamed, for ex. basmati rice, it is so great.

Today I prefer simple tastes and taste experiences. Like some well cooked carrot with salt can be very good.

please rate and comment =)

Savage Gear Alien Eel

Posted on Aug 19, 2008 under burbot fish | 1 Comment

This Lure is especially designed for pelagic Pike and muskie fishing, imitating a sick eel or burbot. The special shaped tail, ensures a deadly slow frequency on retrieve, driving the big pike insane. The enticing side fins, gives less tail strikes and more aggressive strikes. This lure can be fished very slow or at speed and in jerks, simply the most versatile big pike and Muskie lure created. Closed circuit harness in stainless steel — to maximize strength — be aware, they will hit this lure hard! Simply cast out, let it sink to the desired depth and retrieve.
